Basic Dough Recipe
This is the dough I use for fatayer
Palafel's Palestinian Dough Recipe
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
1 cup milk
1/4 c warm water
1/4 cup olive oil
1 egg
Instructions:
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a separate bowl, add all your other ingredients and start mixing
Slowly add the yeast mixture, stirring continuously until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
After the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air bubbles.
Your Palestinian dough is now ready to be used to make delicious Palestinian recipes like fatayer or mana'eesh!
Tip: I use a kitchen aid for steps 2-5, you can do that or use a hand mixer to make life a little easier.
